Influenza Virus Bioinformatics System( IVBS )is a database collection of all public data on influenza virus and integrated with influenza virus information that is unique in Taiwan by scientists at the Institute of Bioinformatics, National Yang-Ming University, with support from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Taiwan. Automatically, the CDC and the researchers of influenza virus vaccine project can get latest news and literatures by the built-in Really Simple Syndication (RSS) technology. The current focus of this system is to present information that can facilitate the distribution of influenza virus information. In the future, the analysis of viral biological characteristics such as antigene, drug resistance, HI titer, virus recombination and genetic reassorment etc. and that will be added in this system can further extend the knowledge base.

IVBS contains DNA and protein sequence data collected mainly from the Influenza Virus Resource (NCBI) and the Influenza Sequence Database (Los Alamos National Laboratory). User can search and download the influenza virus data for a series of analysis such as multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic tree. Furthermore, the database can be used as a the resource for the influenza virus vaccine project to find the relationship between international influenza viruses, which is useful for CDC and other research team, and facilitates the prediction of vaccine targets by using the bioinformatics techniques.
